Dibrugarh: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma reaffirmed the government’s commitment to uplift the standard of living and enable every citizen of Assam to lead a dignified and independent life. Speaking on the last day of the 12-day development campaign in Dibrugarh on Monday, Chief Minister Sharma said that the state government is working very dedicatedly for the all-round development of the people of every strata of the society.
On the occasion, Chief Minister Sharma presented the benefits of various government schemes. He said that Dibrugarh has received significant support through grants and facilities under the initiative of Finance, Disaster Management, Industries and Commerce Departments.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister gave scooters to 2,593 students, bicycles and cash prizes to 10,270 students. Anundoram Barooah Merit Scholarship 1255 students.
Chief Minister Sharma said that the state government’s 12-day development campaign is an initiative to help the targeted people through government intervention. This 12-day initiative is dedicated to the welfare of the people of the state. During this period, the Chief Minister himself visited various districts along with the Council of Ministers and participated in the development campaign.
He said that 2 million new ration cards were distributed during this period. 48,673 students are covered under Dr. Bikant Kakati Merit Scholarship. He said that after getting 2593 scooters, Dibrugarh district got the first position. Since the inception of the program, 190,000 students have benefited.
He said that according to NEP 2020, there should be one secondary school every five kilometers. Keeping the system in mind, the state government has been distributing bicycles to every student studying in class 9.
Stating that a new horizon has been created in education, the Chief Minister said that the state government is spending Rs 1,500 crore to Rs 2,000 crore annually for the welfare of students. He also said that Assam will take leaps and bounds if students take up education as their profession.
The CM also said that if the pace of development is as it is now, more investment will come to Assam. In the new Assam, steps have been taken to ensure that there is no dearth of employment opportunities in the state. Keeping in view Industry 4.0, new subjects like AI, robotics, 3D technology etc. have been introduced in the educational landscape of the state.
He also instructed the officials to complete the work on time. It may be noted that this NLCPR funded sports complex will have athletics zone, indoor stadium, swimming pool, practice ground and outdoor court.
The Chief Minister also visited the upcoming Police Reserve site at Dibrugarh and took stock of its progress. He inspected the parade cum football ground, barracks grounds and accommodation and other facilities.
Chief Minister Sharma directed the officials to complete the project which is going to be constructed at a cost of 20 crores without delay. He also asked the concerned authorities to prepare the ground so that the Republic Day could be celebrated. He also visited the construction site and inspected the progress of the under-construction BJP office at Dibrugarh.
