To highlight Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s alleged derogatory comments about late Dr BR Ambedkar, the distinguished Chairman of the Drafting Committee of the Constitution of India, the Congress on December 24 in Kerala district will march on the collectors.

All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary, KC Venugopal, MP, told reporters in Thiruvananthapuram that Congress workers would meet the district collectors concerned and submit a signed petition for Mr. Shah’s resignation.

He said that the MPs of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) insultingly linked Dr. He has insulted Ambedkar.

Mr. Venugopal said the Congress would show Mr. Shah’s “insulting” speech in Parliament in village and city squares. “Mr. Shah Dr. He commented that heaven is safer by chanting God’s name than chanting Ambedkar repeatedly,” he added.

He said that Indian democracy is under threat. “The BJP-led central government systematically whitewashed the independence of the Election Commission of India (ECI’s),” he said.

For one, the Union government replaced the Chief Justice with a cabinet minister on the panel to select the Chief Election Commissioner of India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi were other members. “The reshuffle of the panel has stacked the decks in favor of BJP’s candidate for the top constitutional post,” he said.

Mr. Venugopal said that the Central Government had recently amended the Election Conduct Rules to restrict public access to the final voter list.

He said the BJP’s move came after the Bharat Bloc petitioned the ECI to release election records, particularly details of last-minute voting, related to the recent elections in Maharashtra and Haryana.

Mr. Venugopal said the Center had hastily revised the election conduct rules after the Haryana High Court ordered the ECI to release the documents sought by Bharat Bloc allies.
