Shivmogga District Central Co-operative Bank will open 19 new branches in 2025 to provide services to the customers, the bank’s chairman RM Manjunath Gowda said on Tuesday.
In a press conference, Mr. Gowda said that the bank plans to provide loans of Rs 1,200 crore to farmers at zero interest in the current financial year. The bank is going to open new branches among the customers.
Three branches have already been opened. Next year, 19 new branches will be opened. “We have sought RBI’s approval to open a new branch. After all the new branches are opened, the total number of branches will reach 50, he said.
Earlier, he said that the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) would allocate a good amount of money for loans to farmers. However, in recent years, NABARD has asked cooperative banks to mobilize resources for loans. NABARD is currently supporting private banks more than cooperative banks. I request NABARD to extend support to agriculture sector through cooperative banks,” he added.
The press conference was attended by DCC Bank Vice Chairman SK Mariappa, Director KP Duggappa Gowda, GN Sudhir and others.
