Andhra Pradesh Fiber Net Limited (APFNL) has initiated strict action against alleged irregularities in recruitment, sacking 410 unauthorized employees. President GV Reddy said the previous government made hundreds of irregular appointments over five years, often based on political recommendations without due process.
At a press conference on Tuesday, Mr. Reddy revealed that many of these employees did domestic jobs for political leaders while drawing salaries from AP Fiber Net. Without any appointment letter, they were directly added to the payroll, which ballooned the monthly expenses to ₹ 4 crore, pushing the institution towards bankruptcy, he alleged.
The once profitable company is now struggling with Rs 2,160 crore in loans and reduced connections from 10 lakh to 5 lakh. Mr. Reddy assured further investigation and legal action along with notice to those responsible for past mismanagement.
