Vijayawada: Deputy Chief Minister K Pawan Kalyan directed the authorities to complete the construction of Kankipadu-Royuru road by January 2025 and open it for vehicular traffic as a Sankranti gift to the people of the region. On Monday, he inspected the construction quality of the road being constructed with funds of Rs.3.75 crore sanctioned from MGNREGA and State Disaster Management Fund (SDMF).
He instructed the staff to check whether the road was laid according to the prescribed quality standards. Thereafter, Pawan Kalyan directed the engineering branch officials not to compromise on the quality of construction and lay the road in three layers of gravel, bitumen and tar.
The Deputy Chief Minister has directed the officials of the Panchayat Raj Department to reconstruct 4.67 km of the six km long road. The directive came after Penamaluru MLA Bode Prasad highlighted the hardship faced by around 21,000 people from Kankipadu, Godavaru and Royyuru panchayats during the launch of the Palle Panduga program in Kankipadu. Built 15 years ago, 21,000 passengers travel daily on this road, but due to lack of maintenance from time to time, it is becoming dilapidated, causing great inconvenience to the residents of this area.
Later in the day, Pawan Kalyan visited Malayapalem village in Gudivada constituency and inspected the water being supplied to households by the Rural Water Supply (RWS) department. The government has sanctioned Rs 3.8 crore for replacement of filter beds to supply drinking water to the residents of 44 gram panchayats in Gudiwada.
For this, the government has completed the replacement of water filter beds in 14 villages of the constituency at a cost of four lakhs each. Pawan Kalyan inspected water samples supplied to households through overhead water tankers after replacing the filter beds and compared them with old water samples taken before the filter beds were replaced.
Excise Minister Kollu Ravindra, Penamaluru MLA Bode Prasad, Gudivada MLA Venigandala Ramu, Avanigadda MLA Mandali Buddha Prasad, PR&RD Director Krishna Teja, Krishna District Collector DK Balaji, and others were present.
