Air India Express’ inaugural four-hour flight from Gujarat’s Surat to Thailand’s capital Bangkok saw good sales of alcohol on board, with some passengers claiming stocks had run out.
On Friday, 175 passengers and six crew members were on board the flight operated by Boeing 737-8 aircraft. The passenger capacity of the aircraft is 176. Alcohol consumption is prohibited in Gujarat.
Budget Airlines officials on Sunday said there was a brisk sale of liquor on the Surat-Bangkok flight and the stock was not exhausted, as claimed by some on social media. Some passengers took to social media to say that the airline had run out of alcohol.
The ship had ample stores of liquor and food, officials added.
There has been no official statement from Tata Group-owned Air India Express. According to the authorities, passengers are not usually served more than 100 ml of alcohol during the flight. Airlines provide five types of alcohol on board.
50ml of Chivas Regal is priced at Rs 600 while 50ml of Red Label, Bacardi White Rum and Beefeater Gin is priced at Rs 400. It also offers 330ml beer lager for Rs 400. When it comes to food, travelers can either prep. – Book or buy during the flight.
