Two of the nine Ayyappa devotees injured in the fire died on December 26.
Doctors at KMC-RI Hospital said that the deceased have been identified as 58-year-old Nijlingappa Bepuri of Ingallahalli and 18-year-old Sanjay Savadatti of Hubballi. They were among the nine Ayyappa devotees who were injured in a fire at a temple in Hubballi on December 23 due to an LPG leak.
Karnataka Labor and District In-Charge Minister Santosh Lad, who was in Belagavi to attend the AICC event in Belagavi after getting the news, reached Hubballi to console the family members.
The Minister along with the Deputy Commissioner and other officials met the family members and consoled them and informed them that the Chief Minister has announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh each to the families of the deceased.
Lad said that the health of the 11-year-old child has improved. Specialist doctors from Bengaluru were assisting KMC-RI doctors in providing advanced treatment to the remaining seven Ayyappa devotees.
