Two migrant workers were found murdered, with fractured heads, on the side of a road near Bheppadai in Tamil Nadu’s Namakkal district, police said on Tuesday.

The victims Dhubaleshwar Seth, 26, from Odisha and Munna Apat, 27, from Jharkhand were working in a local spinning mill.

According to the police, passers-by saw the body on the side of the road. “Preliminary reports indicate that both the persons were killed with extreme brutality. We have formed several teams. Fingerprint experts and a sniffer dog unit were deployed at the site and certain clues were collected. The bodies were sent to Namakkal Government Hospital for post-mortem,” a senior Namakkal official said. said Tuesday.

Inspector General (West Zone) Senthil Kumar inspected the crime scene with a team of officials on Tuesday evening. Authorities have since detained eight people for questioning. Among those arrested were the mill workers who employed the victims and others who worked in nearby mills.

A case of double murder has been registered in the complaint filed by Gauri Shankar, the owner of Rajguru Spinning Mill.

The police said that the reason for the murder could not be revealed.
