Death of a farmer trying to make a living in Shambhu

A 57-year-old man who tried to end his life at Shambhu border during the farmers’ agitation on December 14 died at the government-run Rajendra Hospital in Patiala on Wednesday (December 18, 2024), farmer leaders said.

Farmer Ranjodh Singh of Ratanheri village in Ludhiana district, who has been fasting to death since November 26 in Khanuri border, said that the leaders are worried about the deteriorating health of farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal.

Ranjod has parents, wife, daughter and a son. He participated in the ongoing agitation at Shambhu border regarding the demands of the farmers.

Farmers under the banner of United Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha have been camping at the Shambhu and Khanauri border crossings between Punjab and Haryana since February 13 after security forces stopped their march towards Delhi.
