Zepto Elevates Chai Point Exec to CXO, Zepto Café 10-Minute Delivery

Quick commerce unicorn Zepto has elevated Shashank Shekhar Sharma to lead the company as CXO for Zepto Cafe, as the quick bites offering has seen good demand.

In his new role, Sharma will be responsible for cafe operations, expanding its footprint, equipment procurement and quality control as well as overseeing Zepto Cafe’s end-to-end customer experience.

This comes as Zepto banks on the popularity of its cafe business to enter the food delivery sector, a sector dominated by the duopoly of Zomato and Swiggy. While the offering was previously a part of its Rapid Commerce platform, it has been launched as a standalone app amid growing popularity of 10-minute food delivery with stiff competition from Swiggy’s Bolt, Blinkit’s Bistro, MagicNow, Ola Dash and Swiss.

“The online cafe model represents a paradigm shift in how urban India enjoys the combination of convenience, speed, and quality of food and beverages. As we introduce new menu items to our selection, we will be meticulous in curating assortments that meet the highest standards of quality. Consistency and taste ,” said Shashank Shekhar Sharma at his height in the company’s C-suite.

Sharma spent six years at Chai Point and left as national head of retail.
