War of words between Congress and BRS over 24-hour power supply in Telangana

Hyderabad: A war of words ensued between Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkatreddy and BRS MLA KT Rama Rao (KTR) in the Telangana Assembly here on Saturday over the 24-hour free electricity supply to the agricultural sector during the BRS regime.

Reddy challenged KTR that he would resign if the latter proved that he had provided 24-hour free electricity to farmers. He said that if necessary, he would show the log book to prove that BRS could not supply electricity 24 hours a day.

There has been a heated debate between the ruling party and the opposition regarding the electricity supply and Ryathubandhu scheme implemented by the BRS government. Participating in a brief discussion on the Congress government’s Rithu Bharosa scheme, KTR claimed that it was former Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao who gave 24-hour free power supply to the country’s agricultural sector.

During the BRS regime, the area was significantly increased and Nalgonda district became greener. In response to KTR’s claim, Reddy intervened and offered to resign if KTR proved that it supplied 24-hour electricity to the area and he was also ready to show the logbook.

He said that Congress will get credit for providing free electricity to farmers. During his tenure, BRS befriended former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy and wronged Telangana over Krishna water allocation.

It was the same BRS that failed to implement the promise of giving three acres of land to Dalits in the state. During the 10-year rule of BRS, the state went back to 100 years by destroying all the arrangements of the government. Continuing his tirade against KTR, Reddy said the former was misleading the House by lying.

Reddy clarified that Nalgonda has not received even one acre of water in the district in the last 10 years.
