Vizianagaram Municipal Council approves Rs 156.93 crore budget for 2025-26

Visakhapatnam: The Vizianagaram Municipal Council on Tuesday officially approved the annual budget of Rs 156.93 crore for the financial year 2025-26.

The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Mayor Vijayalakshmi. The discussion was held after Commissioner Palli Nallanaya presented the budget.

The mayor said that the main goal of the council is to develop the city with everyone’s cooperation. The budget aims to increase the facilities for the residents. The commissioner said that new elements have been included in this year’s budget and a new approach has been taken to allocate the budget for the development of the city.

72 billion 45 crore rupees have been effectively allocated for development projects. In which, 10 million rupees have been allocated from the general fund for the construction of new roads, 12 million rupees for development and construction according to the 15th Finance Commission, 1 million rupees for the construction of primary health centers and 15 million rupees for gardening and urban beautification.

Similarly, 50 million rupees have been allocated for the construction of sewers and culverts, 10 million rupees for lighting parks and junctions, and 15 million rupees for the development of parks and playgrounds.

There are also plans to have a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) fund to encourage voluntary donations from citizens to strengthen financial support for municipal initiatives.
