Visakhapatnam: Janasena councilor PLN Murthy Yadav had written a petition to Revenue Minister Anagni Sathya Prasad seeking his intervention for the publication of two SIT reports related to land grabbing and document forgery in Visakhapatnam.
The minister, who was in Visakhapatnam, convened a review meeting with the collectors of six districts of North Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday.
In the petition, he mentioned that since the division of the state, there has been a loss of crores of rupees due to irregularity and acquisition of land on the basis of documents drawn up in Visakhapatnam.
The corporator said that during the tenure of the TD government from 2014 to 2019, an SIT was formed to investigate these land scams and a comprehensive report of more than 1,000 pages was submitted. But no action was taken based on the inquiry report.
He added that the then vice president of BHUDA, Kona Sashidhar, had also submitted a report on the land scam worth 540 crores. But the research never saw the light of day.
Murthy Yadav emphasized that the findings of the two previous SITs should be kept in mind before starting the investigation into the illegal land transaction. Also, he asked the minister to cancel the registration of all the land transactions contained in the two SIT reports.
The Janasena corporator also criticized the large-scale allotment of land during the YSRC government and said these illegal activities were driven by self-interest rather than public interest. Murthy Yadav also pointed out that the previous government had started the process of allotment of land and it was for the marginalized communities. “But these lands have been seized by real estate developers and officials allegedly involved in these manipulations,” he added.
