Calicut University (CU) will get ₹ 100 crore under the Central Government’s Multi-disciplinary Education and Research University (MERU) scheme.
Of this, the Center will provide Rs 60 crore and the state Rs 40 crore under the Pradhan Mantri High Education Campaign. A statement on Saturday (December 21) said Rs 2 crore would be spent on renovation of the examination building, Rs 1.7 crore on online examination centre, Rs 1.66 crore on modernization of Hindi department and Rs 1.5 crore on installation. Kerala Media Archive, and ₹1.79 crore to set up Plastic Waste Management Incubation Centre. A total of 26 projects will be taken up, including Rs 3 crore for setting up classrooms, laboratories and libraries for four-year undergraduate programs and integrated post-graduate programmes.
Zamorin’s Guruvayurappan College, Kozhikode, MES Kalladi College, Mannarakkad, Palakkad, and WMO College, Muttil, Wayanad will get Rs 5 crore each. Officials said the projects have to be completed by March 31, 2026, the release added.
