The deceased have been identified as 17-year-old Dashrat Kumar and 18-year-old Sunalal Kumar of Rajwahi village in Gopalganj district of Bihar.
Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh condemned the “act of terrorism” and expressed his condolences to the bereaved families. He also announced a relief of Rs 10 lakh to the families of the deceased.
“I strongly condemn the brutal killing of young brothers from Bihar, Sunalal Kumar (18) and Dashrat Kumar (17) in Manipur’s Kakching district. Their bereaved families,” the chief minister said in a post on X.
He noted the “possibility” of the act as “a massive conspiracy to destabilize the state”.
“At this critical juncture, we cannot ignore the possibility that this heinous crime is part of a larger conspiracy to destabilize our state and push it towards chaos. We must unite against these destructive forces and ensure that they do not succeed in instilling fear and insecurity,” He added.
The chief minister said the case could be handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) if necessary.
“Each bereaved family will be given Rs 10 lakh, and all efforts are being made to identify, arrest and prosecute those responsible. If necessary, the case will be handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to ensure a fair and thorough investigation. ,” Chief Minister Biren Singh added.
Meanwhile, CM Nitish Kumar directed the officials to provide benefits to the families of the deceased as per rules and make necessary arrangements to bring the two persons to their native village.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also condemned the killing on Sunday and announced a relief of Rs 2 lakh to the family.
“I am deeply saddened by the killing of Laxman Kumar ji and Dashrath Kumar ji, residents of Gopalganj district of Bihar in riot violence in Manipur. This incident is very sad. Deepest condolences to the families of the deceased,” he said. a post.

Earlier, the Gopalganj District Office had informed that the post-mortem of both the deceased had been conducted at Imphal hospital and their families had also been contacted immediately.
“The district administration is in constant contact with the concerned authorities of Manipur to bring the body of the deceased and provide other assistance,” the statement said.
“The district administration is providing all kinds of support to the family members of the deceased as per the rules,” he added.
