Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Monday (December 16, 2024) laid the foundation stone for a non-leather footwear and athletic footwear manufacturing unit in Ranipet district. This unit was established by Hong Fu Group, a Taiwanese company, with an investment of Rs. 1,500 crores.

The ‘Grand Atlanta – Hong Fu India Project’, which is being set up at the Sipkot campus in Panapakkam, is expected to provide employment to around 25,000 workers; About 85% of them are expected to be rural women.

Taiwan’s Hong Fu Industrial Group manufactures footwear and athletic products for many global brands including Nike, Converse, Vans and Puma.

With the aim of becoming a USD 1 trillion economy by 2030, the Tamil Nadu government is on a mission to bring industrial investment to the state in various emerging sectors. Chief Minister MK Stalin had earlier made an official visit to UAE, Japan, Singapore, Spain and America to attract investment.

Deputy Chief Minister Udayanidhi Stalin, Ministers R Gandhi and TRB Raja, Chief Secretary N Muruganandam, senior officials, representatives of Hong Fu – Chairman TY Chang, CEO Jackie Chang, JV Partner and Director Akil Panruna – were present on the occasion. .
