Health Minister C. Damodar Raja Narasimha on Wednesday (December 18, 2024) addressed the recent court verdict on admission to medical PG seats. The minister assured the people that the court verdict would be thoroughly scrutinized and no injustice would be done to the students of Telangana. He reiterated the government’s commitment to protect the interests of local students and ensure their rightful access to PG seats.
Taking up X, the minister said the government had introduced GOs 148 and 149 to ensure that non-local students pursuing their studies in Telangana under the 15% unreserved quota would not be eligible for local quota benefits in PG admissions.
“This decision is intended to ensure justice to the students of Telangana and is not intended to harm them in any way,” he said.
The minister also criticized some groups for misinterpreting the court’s observations, especially regarding the inclusion of non-locals. He accused them of spreading false propaganda to mislead the people.
The Telangana High Court on Tuesday struck down the state government’s recent revised rules regarding ‘local status’ of candidates for admission to postgraduate medical courses.
