The spirit of Kannada pride spread when Mandya organized a Mega Kannada Literary Conference

A crowd of literature lovers in the land of sugar and jaggery in 87 yearsth Akhila Bharat Kannada Sahitya Sammelan which got off to a grand start on Friday at Rajamathe Kempananjammani and Rajarshi Nalavadi Krishnaraj Wadiyar Vedike in Mandaya.

Literary personalities, Kannada workers, school and college students and common people gathered in the conference, which is considered historic as the sugar land organized the Kannada conference after a gap of almost 30 years. There was a festive mood, and the whole city was in a kind of festive mode.

All roads leading to Cauvery’s epicenter are curtained off for the three-day conference. People carrying yellow and red flags depicting Kannada pride and cheering Kannada along with school students, Jnanpith awardees, writers and poets marched towards the venue early in the morning.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah inaugurated the three-day literature conference amid a gathering of thousands of people from across the state to witness the literacy festival. Among those present were Sri Nirmalandanath Swamiji of Sri Adichuchangiri Math, Jnanpith awardee Chandrasekhar Kambar and noted poet Dodrangegowda.

More than 3,000 policemen were mobilized for security and crowd and traffic management. As the traffic increased following the rush of vehicles from the Mysuru and Bangalore sections, the traffic police found it difficult to control the traffic. The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) operated special buses, and the rides were free. Gram panchayats also operated special buses to take villagers to the conference.
