VijayawadaAcknowledging the hardship faced by the victims of the recent floods in Andhra Pradesh, particularly in Vijayawada, Krishna and Eluru districts, the Singapore Red Cross has offered assistance to those who lost their belongings due to flood waters for 10 to 15 days.
In consultation with the Andhra Pradesh State Branch of the Indian Red Cross Society, the Singapore Red Cross has committed to providing blankets, mosquito nets and towels to 3,000 families. Singapore Red Cross representative Satyanarayan Mylavarpu visited the flood-affected villages of NTR, Krishna and Eluru districts and distributed relief to the affected families.
He mentioned that the Singapore Red Cross had provided a significant number of oxygen concentrators to India during the Covid-19 pandemic. BVS Kumar, Red Cross Blood Bank and State Coordinator for Projects in Andhra Pradesh, accompanied the Singapore team, explaining the damage caused by the recent floods and detailing the rescue and rehabilitation efforts undertaken by the AP Red Cross. giving Disaster Management Coordinator Annamma and in-charge of Youth and Junior Red Cross Madhu Babu also participated in the effort.
