Former Haryana Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala’s body was laid to rest at the family’s Teja Khera farmhouse on Saturday (Dec 21, 2024) for people to pay their last respects, a leader of his Bharatiya Rashtriya Lok Dal (INLD) said.
He said that the state funeral will be held at Tezakhera village at 3 pm.
Chautala passed away at the age of 89 on Friday (December 20, 2024) in Gurugram.

An INLD spokesperson said on Friday (December 20, 2024) that Chautala was taken to hospital after his health deteriorated. Later he died.
Chautala’s last rites will be attended by Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and other dignitaries.
Omprakash Chautala’s younger son Abhay Singh Chautala, an INLD leader, elder son Ajay Singh Chautala, who was president of the Jananayak Janata Party (JJP), and other family members, including former Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala, were present at Teja Khera.
Congress leaders Randeep Singh Surjewala, who became chief minister five times, and Kumari Selja also reached Chautala’s farmhouse. A large number of people have also gathered in the village.
The Haryana government has announced a three-day state mourning on Friday (December 20, 2024). Similarly, it has decided to make Saturday (December 21, 2024) a public holiday in all its offices as a mark of respect.
