Telangana is set to implement a new ‘Clean and Green Energy Policy’ to address its growing energy demand in a sustainable manner.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Wickramakar, who is in charge of the Power Department, said, “The state’s highest electricity demand is projected to increase from 15,623 MW in 2023-24 to 20,968 MW by 2027-28. 31,809 MW by 2034-35. Accordingly, energy requirements are expected to increase from 85,644 million units (MUs) in 2023-24 to 1,15,347 MUs by 2027-28 and 1,50,040 MUs by 2034-35. To meet this demand, the Telangana government has set an ambitious target of adding 20,000 MW of renewable energy capacity by 2030.”
The proposed policy aligns with the state’s commitment to clean energy and supports the national vision for sustainable energy development. Under the initiative, a conference of stakeholders will be held on January 3.2025 at the Hyderabad International Convention Center (HICC), Hyderabad. The event will bring together key stakeholders from across the country to discuss strategies and implementation plans for the policy.
