Recently a girl of 17 years old named Seema Luhar who resided in a rural area in Baitadi, Nepal gave birth to a baby with the condition. The baby’s legs are facing her head while her arms look like feet.
The local health post chief, Mahesh Singh advised that the child be taken to an advanced hospital for further assessment and care. This was unexpected since at her earlier pregnancy test there were no irregularities.
“The baby was born one week early and has her legs facing upwards towards her head. Her arms also look like legs. She needs special attention,” observed Singh.
Moreover, “It’s quite a risky delivery particularly for the young mother. During pregnancy Seema may have been very young and weak. This can be among several factors behind the current condition of her baby that could’ve stayed at an awkward position within the womb.”
The baby’s arrival came as a surprise to most people in their locality. Seema comes from a poor family whose husband works in India as a source of income.
According to orthopedic specialist Dr Gunaraj Awasthi, this child should be seen by someone who knows enough about it, so she cannot think of other options for treatment.

The local health worker suggested that the baby be taken to another hospital where they can care about it better; or The local health worker recommended that the baby be transferred into bigger hospital where she can get proper care. Such kind of unexpected situation might have come up because Seema is still young and possibly sick during birthing period.
This unforeseen ailment might have resulted from the youthfulness and possible fragility during gestation stage by the young mother. The baby’s family is poor and needs help to get the treatment for her; or The baby comes from a poor family that needs assistance in taking care of their daughter. A specialist in bones and muscles suggests the child should be taken to a specialist only.
