Stones were pelted on a Vande Bharat train in Uttarakhand on Thursday, breaking a window and causing panic among passengers. A 22-year-old man has been arrested.
According to the police, the Vande Bharat train (22546) was traveling from Dehradun to Lucknow when it was hit by stones near Kharanja Qutubpur village on Luxor-Moradabad railway section. The C-6 crashed into the coach and caused a loud crack in one of the windows.
The loco pilot informed the control room at Moradabad and the information was passed on to the Railway Police Force (RPF). An official said an RPF team reached Kharanja Qutubpur village and arrested 22-year-old Salman after interrogation.
RPF Inspector Ravi Kumar Siwach said that a case has been registered against Salman under the Railway Act.
Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay, Chief Public Relations Officer of Northern Railway, said that action was taken as soon as the railway was informed about the incident. He said that the accused has been arrested and a case has been registered.
