State has no role in Adani unit: CM Rewant

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Tuesday said the state government cannot cancel the agreement signed by previous governments with the Adani Group to set up a defense manufacturing unit in Hyderabad. He said that the BJP government at the Center had allowed 100 per cent private investment in the defense sector and it was not under the purview of the state government.

Responding to the call for action against the Adani Group at a book launch on Saturday, Revanth Reddy said, “The state government has no role in this. The BJP government has allowed 100 per cent private investment in the defense sector. The Adani Group was established. Based on the agreement signed by the previous governments, its headquarters in Hyderabad Defense production facilities should be respected.

“This is not about Adani or any individual but about the Centre’s policy of allowing private sector involvement in defense production. The state government cannot unilaterally cancel these contracts,” he said, adding that the state government’s role in the issue was limited to allotment of land for defense manufacturing units. .

Hermes 900 missile drones, which were allegedly supplied to the Israeli military for use in attacks on Palestine.

The Chief Minister criticized the Centre’s handling of territorial disputes with China and internal conflict in Manipur. He claimed that after 2014, the allegation of China’s occupation of 4,000 square kilometers of India’s territory was deliberately ignored in the parliamentary debate.

“The rulers at the Center are raising unnecessary issues in Parliament to stop the debate on China’s aggression. People’s attention is being diverted from such important issues,” he said.

Highlighting the violence in Manipur, Revanth Reddy attributed the unrest to corporate interests.

“Sophisticated weapons like AK-47 are being used, fueling civil war. Corporate companies are exploiting the region’s mineral wealth by encouraging conflict. Shouldn’t the Indian government intervene to restore peace and seize these weapons? Such steps are necessary to restore normalcy. ”

Speaking about Yadav Reddy, the author of the book, the Chief Minister appreciated his ideological commitment and significant contribution to the Telangana movement.

“Many talk about ideologies, but few follow them. Yadav Reddy is one of them,” the Chief Minister said. He also praised the efforts of other leaders like S Jayapal Reddy, highlighting their role as Telangana state.

Revanth Reddy called for the publication of a comprehensive book describing the history of the Telangana state movement, including the communal and non-communal disputes, and the contributions of leaders such as Yadav Reddy and Jayapal Reddy.

He said that although some leaders are respected for their roles in the front line, many who work tirelessly behind the scenes are ignored.
