Visakhapatnam: Speaker Chintakayala Ayyanna Patrudu, citing a recent survey, said that about 320,000 ineligible people in the state are receiving welfare pensions through Kirte documents.
He gave this information while inaugurating a new paddy procurement center in Nathavaram mandal of Anakapalle district on Thursday.
Addressing the gathering, Ayyanna Patrudu highlighted the issue of fraudulent pension claims, highlighting how fake age certificates and other misinformation are being used to illegally access pensions.
“Each fake beneficiary gets Rs.4,000 per month. This means that the government incurs a loss of Rs.120 crore every month. This comes to Rs.1,440 crore annually. Over a period of five years, the total loss can reach Rs.7,200 crore,” he said.
Speaker, the money could have been used for building infrastructure like the construction of a road the size of Tandav reservoir or construction of three reservoirs.
Ayyana Patrudu said that she took up the issue with Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu.
