Sonakshi Sinha slams Mukesh Khanna for making derogatory comments about her family

New Delhi: Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha has slammed senior actor Mukesh Khanna for not knowing about the Ramayana for making “insulting statements” against her upbringing and family. Back in 2019, Sonakshi gave a wrong answer to a question about the Hindu epic while appearing on the popular quiz show “Kaun Banega Crorepati” (KBC) hosted by Amitabh Bachchan.

Khanna, who criticized the actor at the time, recently narrated the incident in an interview with RJ Siddharth Kannan.

In her response, Sonakshi, 37, posted a lengthy note addressing Khanna, 66, on her Instagram Stories on Monday night.

“Dear Sir, Mukesh Khanna Ji… I recently read a statement by you that it was my father’s fault that I could not answer a question correctly about Ramayana, which I attended many years ago,” she wrote.

The actor asked Khanna to stop bringing up the same incident to make “news at the expense” of him and his family.

“… the next time you decide to say something about the values my father instilled in me… please remember that it is because of those values that I am only saying, very respectfully, after you decide to do something offensive. Statements about my upbringing .”

Sonakshi said that even though she “blanked out” when she appeared on “KBC”, she wondered how Khanna could forget the lesson of “forgiveness and forgetting” taught by Lord Rama himself.

“If Lord Rama can forgive Manthara, can forgive Kaikeyi…if he can forgive Ravana even after the great war, you can surely let go of this very small matter compared to you…not that I need your forgiveness. ” added the “Dahaad” star.

In an interview with Kannan, 66-year-old Khanna accused Sonakshi’s father, veteran actor and TMC MP Shatrughan Sinha, of failing to teach Sonakshi about the Ramayana.

“People were angry, ‘She doesn’t know’. I said it’s not Sonakshi’s fault, it’s her father’s fault. Why didn’t you tell your kids? Why let them be so modern?” He said.
