Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a formal welcome and guard of honor at Bayan Palace in Kuwait on Sunday (December 22, 2024) ahead of talks with Kuwait’s top leadership.
Prime Minister Modi arrived in Kuwait on Saturday for a two-day visit. He is about to go to Kuwait at the invitation of the Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Mesal Al Ahmed Al Jaber Al Sabah. His is the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to the Gulf nation in 43 years.
The last Indian Prime Minister to visit Kuwait was Indira Gandhi in 1981.
“Prime Minister @narendramodi arrives at Bayan Palace in Kuwait to a ceremonial welcome and guard of honour. Warmly welcomed by HH Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Prime Minister of Kuwait,” External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal posted on X.

Prime Minister Modi will hold wide-ranging talks with the Emir, Crown Prince Sabah Al Khalid Al-Sabah and his Kuwaiti counterpart.
