This will be the first Prime Ministerial visit to Kuwait by any Indian Prime Minister after 43 years.
PM Modi will attend the opening ceremony of the 26th Arabian Golf Cup as a special guest of the Emir of Kuwait. He will also interact with the Indian diaspora at the ‘Hala Modi’ community event at the Sheikh Saad Al Abdullah Sports Complex.
Prime Minister Modi said his visit will further deepen India’s historic ties with Kuwait and he is keen to meet the Crown Prince of Kuwait.
“Today and tomorrow, I will visit Kuwait. This visit will further deepen India’s historic ties with Kuwait. I am looking forward to meeting His Highness the Amir, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Kuwait. This evening I will interact with Kuwait. The Indian community and will also attend the opening ceremony of the Arab Golf Cup. ,” PM Modi wrote on X.
Addressing a special briefing on the Prime Minister’s visit to Kuwait, Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs (CPV and OIA) Arun Kumar Chatterjee gave a brief account of Prime Minister Modi’s visit and highlighted the strong ties between the two countries, saying, “Both countries have excellent political relations. Both countries.”
“This is the first visit of an Indian Prime Minister to Kuwait in 43 years and hence it is very significant,” he said.
Prime Minister Modi will be given a formal guard of honor at the Bayan Palace (the main palace of the Emir of Kuwait), after which he will meet separately with the Emir of Kuwait and the Crown Prince of Kuwait, Sabah Al Khalid Al-Sabah. After that, there will be delegation-level talks with the Prime Minister of Kuwait,’ he said.
During the bilateral discussions, Prime Minister Modi will review with the leadership of Kuwait the entire spectrum of our bilateral relations, including political, trade, investment, energy, culture, and people-to-people relations, and the steps taken. Both sides need to expand them further. The Crown Prince will host a dinner in honor of the Honorable Prime Minister.
This historic visit of the Prime Minister is expected to open a new chapter in India and build bilateral relations. This will not only strengthen partnerships in existing areas but also open new avenues for future cooperation, reinforce our shared values and build a stronger and more dynamic partnership for the future. It is also expected to boost relations between India and the Gulf Cooperation Council.
