President Murmu, Prime Minister Modi condoled the demise of MT Vasudevan Nair

President Draupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday (December 26, 2024) condoled the demise of the great Malayalam literary figure MT Vasudevan Nair.

Addressing the social network X, President Bhandari said that the literary world was saddened by the death of the writer.

β€œThe literary world has become poorer with the passing away of noted Malayalam writer Shri MT Vasudevan Nair. Rural India came alive in his writings. He was honored with major literary awards and made significant contributions to films. He was awarded the Padma Bhushan,” the post said.

President Bhandari also expressed her condolences to the writer’s family.

“I extend my heartfelt condolences to his family members and his large number of readers and fans,” the post further read.

Mr. Modi said his works, with their deep exploration of human emotions, have shaped generations and will continue to inspire many.

Condolences Mr. Modi said Nair is the most revered figure in Malayalam cinema and literature.

“He also gave voice to the silent and marginalized. My thoughts are with his family and fans. Om Shanti,” Mr Modi said.

Great writer and Jnanpith awardee Nair passed away on Wednesday (December 25, 2024) due to cardiac arrest in a private hospital. He was 91 years old.
