Pannu heads the banned organization Sikhs for Justice and has been declared a terrorist by the Indian government.
Addressing the media at Mahakumbh Nagar, Mahant Ravindra Puri, president of Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad, said, “If this person named Pannu dares to enter our Mahakumbh, he will be beaten and thrown out. We have seen hundreds of such madmen.”
“This is the fair of Magh, where Sikhs and Hindus unite. Trying to foment division in Pannu is impossible. The Sikh community has kept our Sanatan tradition alive. They have protected Sanatan Dharma,” he said.
Pointing to the common spiritual bond between the Hindu and Sikh communities, the Akhara Parishad president said, “We have Naga sadhus in both religions, and we are all soldiers of Sanatan Dharma. So we do not take such illusory threats seriously.”
He also highlighted that Pannu’s inflammatory language was always intended to sow division and target Sanatan Dharma. “We should not give too much importance to Pannu’s statement, as his aim is always to create unrest and attack the fabric of our tradition,” he said.
Mahant Ravindra Puri also pointed out that the three major ‘Akhadas’ – Bada Udasin Akhara, Naya Udasin Akhara, and Nirmal Akhada – are based in Punjab and are home to revered saints. “Therefore, we do not take such extremists seriously,” he added.
