Palamuru project to be ready by December 2026: Excellent

Hyderabad: Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy informed the Legislative Council on Wednesday that the state government will complete the Palamuru Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme by December 2026, describing the project as a ‘high priority’ for the government.

Answering a question about the project during question period, Uttamkumar Reddy said that Rs 32,305 crore has already been spent on preliminary administrative approval. 35,200 crores. β€œAn additional Rs 33,201 crore is required to complete the remaining work, taking the total cost of the project to around Rs. 65,506 crore,” he said, adding, “The government has taken steps to secure necessary funds and clearances to ensure timely completion.

The project is designed to irrigate 12.3 lakh acres in Nagarkurnool, Mahbubnagar, Vikarabad, Ranga Reddy, Narayanpet and Nalgonda districts. It will raise 90 TMC of flood water for 60 days from the banks of the Srisailam project on the Krishna river and provide drinking water to the surrounding villages and support industrial use.

The minister said that environmental and technical clearances from the Central Water Commission (CWC) and the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change are under process. He assured that the approval was on track and there would be no delay in the project timeline.
