The state government is leaving no stone unturned to ensure the safety of devotees and tourists during Mahakumbh 2025, and is adopting a “multi-pronged approach”, officials said on Wednesday.
To ensure zero complaints, police personnel deputed for duty in the Kumbh region are going through “targeted training and evaluation programmes”, officials said. Special training sessions and examinations have been organized to assess and strengthen the readiness of the policemen to face any potential challenges, informed a spokesperson of the DGP’s office.
These sessions cover important areas like disaster management, traffic control, interaction with devotees, and the religious and spiritual significance of Kumbh. After training, written tests are conducted to assess the readiness of police personnel, ensuring they “meet the highest standards of safety and service”.
The exams include questions on topics covered during training, such as disaster prevention and response, behavioral protocols with devotees, and key religious and spiritual aspects of Kumbh. These efforts aim to provide officers with comprehensive knowledge and skills to effectively handle every aspect of their duties.
UP Director General of Police Prashant Kumar stressed the importance of preparation and said, “Maha Kumbh will present various challenges for police personnel. To address this, extensive training and examinations are being conducted to ensure that every officer understands his duties and can face any situation confidently.”
Rajesh Kumar Dwivedi, SSP of Kumbh Mela said, ‘Compulsory training classes are being conducted for all the employees assigned to Kumbh Mela duty. The sessions focus on various areas including security, disaster management and practical on-ground challenges. After training, employees are tested on their knowledge, covering topics such as disaster identification and resolution, route familiarity, Kumbh’s spiritual and religious heritage, and geographical considerations.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (Training) Sandeep Verma said that the exam consists of 20 questions of 100 marks in multiple choice format. He said, ‘The time of the exam is fixed for one hour. There is an additional three-day training program for those who fail, followed by a re-examination to ensure that all police personnel are fully equipped for Kumbh duty.
