OpenAI, the company that introduced us to ChatGPT two years ago is reportedly gearing up to “shipmass.” Starting today, the AI ββstartup can unveil new products, features and demos for the next 12 days.
According to edgeThe announcement was made at the New York Times DealBook conference by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, who didn’t share any details about what to expect. But citing sources familiar with the matter, the report suggests that some upcoming features could include Sora, an AI-powered text-to-video generator and a new logic model.
One of the announcements is also rumored to include a Santa-like voice for ChatGPT with some users planning to replace the voice mode button with a snowflake.

The publication says that OpenAI staff have also begun teasing some upcoming features, with one member of OpenAI’s technical staff posting that they “came back just in time to put up the shipmas tree.”
Last month, it was leaked after several artists allegedly invited to test Sora accused OpenAI of using it as ‘PR puppets’, claiming they were doing “unpaid R&D and PR”. After the incident, OpenAI spokesman Nico Felix said the company had temporarily blocked all user access to Sora.
However, OpenAI CTO Meera Murati said earlier this year that Sora will be available before the end of 2024, so we could see a text-to-video AI generator in the next few days. Just before Sora, Google announced Veo, its own generative AI video model that is already available for businesses.
