One more person died in Rayadurgam road accident

Hyderabad: Venkata Ramana Reddy, a 26-year-old environmental research analyst with FactSet, was injured when he was hit by a speeding car on the ORR slip road near Nankaramguda under Rayadurgam police station limits on Monday night. The family has alleged that the delay in treatment caused the death.

The accused, 19-year-old Mr. Kailash, a London University student, who was allegedly speeding, had obtained his driving license four months ago.

“The driver’s father is a senior surgeon; he could have sought his father’s help and shifted to any private hospital, but the treatment was delayed,” said Srinivas, a relative of the deceased.

β€œDoctors at a private hospital said that Venkat Raman suffered three fractures on his head and was brain dead due to untreated treatment in the golden hour. If he had been taken to the hospital at least 10 minutes earlier, he would have survived,’ he said.

According to relatives and the police, the accident took place at around 1:50 am, but the injured were not taken to Kondapur Regional Hospital, 5 km away, till 2:30 am. The emergency care doctors there suggested shifting him to Gandhi Hospital.

“We took Venkata Ramana to a private hospital at 3.50 am,” said his uncle Vasantha Reddy.

“Kailash was driving at a speed of 120 km per hour,” said a teary-eyed Vasant, adding that his nephew is the breadwinner of his family.

On Monday, Venkat Raman and his friend, 21-year-old K. Srivani was returning to Gandipet after attending a class 10 reunion at Kamreddy. Srivani died on the spot while Venkat Raman survived till Tuesday.

SI N Pranay of Raidurgam said that Kailash’s breathalyzer tested negative for alcohol. He was beaten up by locals, who reported the accident and called an ambulance. The driver has been booked under Sections 106 and 125 (a) of the BNS Act, he said.

The body was kept at the Osmania Hospital mortuary for post-mortem and then handed over to the family.

Venkata Raman is survived by his parents, farmers from Banswada in Kamareddy district, and a college-going younger brother, Tirumala Reddy.
