Andhra Pradesh Environment Management Corporation Limited (APEMC) Chairman Polamreddy Dinesh Reddy on Wednesday said that the state government has made environmental protection a top priority by minimizing the amount of waste generated.

Mr. Reddy on Wednesday inspected the TSDF (Treatment, Storage, Disposal Facility) plant with Venkatagiri MLA Kurugondala Ramakrishna, set up under the Coastal Waste Management Scheme (Unit-II) at Raviguntapalli village in Rapur mandal.

He took information from the officials about the hazardous industrial waste treatment process in the plant and asked them to be careful while handling the waste.

The plant was set up during the then Telugu Desam Party government to treat industrial waste from several factories in the undivided Nellore district, which has moved into Tirupati after the district reorganization exercise.

β€œProtection of the environment has emerged as a major challenge and a daunting task. We are committed to ensuring proper disposal of waste to ensure a safe future for the future,” Mr. Reddy said.

AP Pollution Control Board officer Ashok Kumar and other officials participated.
