Speaking at a session titled ‘Building Kannada in a Global Context’ held at Mandya on the third and last day of the 87th Akhila Bharat Kannada Sahitya Sammelan, Rashmi Nagaraj, a resident of Germany, said that the state’s NRIs are addressing the Kannada language. Speaking on the same topic, Sashidhar Nagarajappa, a resident of the United Arab Emirates, said that a total of 5,866 NRI children are learning Kannada in different countries and 704 tutors are involved in teaching Kannada.

HK Madhu, a resident of Qatar, emphasized the labor problems faced by Kannadiga workers abroad. “It is alleged that the camp where the workers live does not have basic facilities and they do not get monthly wages.
