Navarang Palakkad will organize a four-day National Children’s Theater Festival at Chembai Memorial Government Music College here from Thursday (December 26, 2024). With the help of the Central Ministry of Culture, the legend of theater S. A festival is going to be held in memory of Ramanujam.
MLA Rahul Mamkootathil will inaugurate the festival on Thursday evening.
Festival director Kannan Palakkad informed that seven plays will be staged in the festival. Apart from Malayalam plays, there will be plays from Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Assam.
The inaugural play will be ‘Crescent Moon’, scripted by Rabindranath Tagore and directed by Arun Lal. It will be jointly presented by Kalabhara Children’s Theater and Little Earth School of Theatre.
Kannada drama Iruvai Purana directed by Nidhi S Shastri will be staged on Friday (December 27) at 6 pm. It would later be staged by Swarna Kokkukal written by Vayla Vasudevan Pillai and directed by KV Ganesh.
On the third day, Saturday (December 28) at 6 pm, a Kavalal drama based on Sugathakumari’s poem written and directed by Shirley Somasundaran will be staged. This will be followed by the staging of Post Office, a play written by Rabindranath Tagore and directed by Mr. Kannan.
On the final day, the North East Theater Academy of Assam will stage a play titled Shikar, directed by Seemant Phukan, at 6 pm.
Then Erode Theater Group’s play Pokil Chuzhi, screenplay no. Muthuswamy and V. Directed by Satish Kumar.
