Former Prime Minister of India Manmohan Singh passed away on Thursday (December 26, 2024) at the age of 92. An architect of India’s economic reforms, he was prime minister for two terms in the Congress-led UPA government from 2004 to 2014.

Singh, who was finance minister under then Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao, was the architect and brainchild of the economic reforms in 1991 that pulled India from the brink of bankruptcy and ushered in an era of economic liberalization that is widely considered to have changed course.
