BhopalThe Madhya Pradesh government has started work on river interlinking projects with an aim to expand irrigation facilities in the state.
Official sources said on Sunday that the state government has now turned its attention to preparing projects for inter-linking of rivers to expand irrigation facilities and provide drinking water to dry areas of the state.
According to sources, the state government is studying the possibility of connecting special rivers to provide irrigation facilities to non-irrigated lands in addition to providing drinking water to villages facing water crisis in summer.
River linking projects such as Ken-Betwa River Linking Project and Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal Interlinking Project, which are to be unveiled soon, have been stalled.
There are about 207 small and big rivers in Madhya Pradesh.
