Hyderabad: Hyderabad Airport Metro Limited (HAML) Managing Director NVS Reddy informed that a submission has been made to the Hyderabad Collector under the Land Acquisition Act to acquire 900 properties for the Old City Metro Rail Project.
He said in a statement on Sunday that preliminary notification had been issued for 800 properties, of which the notification for 400 had been completed.
A total of 1,100 properties were identified for acquisition for the 7.5 km old city leg of the system between MGBS and Chandrayangutta.
Compensation awards for the 200 affected properties were expected to be finalized by the end of December, after which payments would begin, and demolition would follow, the statement said.
Reddy said that the religious and historical structures on the route will be protected using engineering solutions. HAML officials were negotiating with property owners to ensure smooth progress of land acquisition.
The land acquisition process is being monitored by both Hyderabad Airport Metro Limited and District Collector Anudeep Durisetty, and regular updates are being provided to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, the statement said.
