Twelve MLAs from Shiv Sena are set to take oath as ministers in the expansion of the Maharashtra cabinet on Sunday.
Shiv Sena MLA Bharatshet Gogawale said that the oath-taking ceremony will be held today at 4 pm.
According to Gogawale, along with him, 12 MLAs from his party will be sworn in as ministers, of which seven are new faces.
“The oath ceremony will be held today at 4 pm. That’s why we all came to Nagpur. 7 are new (who will take oath as ministers) and 5 are repeaters,” Gogawa told ANI.
Meanwhile, BJP MLA Girish Mahajan said he received a call from the state BJP chief announcing that he had been selected as a minister.
“State BJP chief Chandrasekhar Bawankule called me and told me that I should be sworn in (as Maharashtra minister) at 4 pm. I will take oath as a minister for the third time. I express my gratitude to the party,” Mahajan told ANI.
Shiv Sena MLA Yogesh Ramdas Kadam told ANI that if I am allowed to serve as a minister, I will thank Eknath Shinde.
“I can’t tell you much but as the youngest MLA of Shiv Sena, if I am given a chance, I will be grateful to Eknath Shinde to serve the people of Maharashtra and Konkan region… I will support. Whatever responsibility is given to me, I will do it well. … the official list will be submitted to the governor within 1-2 hours,’ said Ramdas Kadam.
BJP MLA Shivendra Raje Bhosle told ANI that he did not receive a call from the party leadership and that everyone would follow Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’ decision.
“I haven’t received any call yet. Let’s see what happens… Constituency workers have expectations but everyone will follow Devendra Fadnavis’ decision, whatever he decides,” Bhosle said.
Reacting to the cabinet expansion, Shiv Sena MLA Uday Samant said, “I haven’t received a call yet but whoever Eknath Shinde gives responsibility will shoulder that responsibility well. Those who call will take it. Swear.“
The Cabinet expansion is taking place two weeks after Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and his two deputy ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar were sworn in on December 5.
The Mahayuti alliance, despite having an overwhelming majority, was criticized by the opposition for not naming its cabinet. In the Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Mahayuti alliance won a landslide victory in 235 seats. .
The results marked a significant milestone for the BJP, which emerged as the single-largest party with 132 seats. Shiv Sena and Nationalist Congress Party made significant gains with 57 and 41 seats respectively.
