Kamreddy workers, stranded in Saudi Arabia, seek immediate help

Hyderabad: It is said that a person based in Kamreddy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia was forced to work as a manual laborer even though his contract with the company expired six months ago.

Sakli Narasimlu, 38, moved to Riyadh in August 2022 on a two-year contract to work as a school bus driver. Upon his arrival, his kafil (employer) forced him to dig trenches, carry construction materials to the tenth floor, and work as a house driver.

In a video sent home, Narasimlu said he was forced to raise and raise goats and camels. “They beat me when I refused. After working for a year, I ran away to the police station, but they took me to the same place and beat me up again,’ Narasimlu said.

“When my father passed away last month, I told them that I have to go back to India. They locked me in the room. They are attacking me verbally and physically, and I can’t take it anymore,” he added.

His wife Rosa said that Narasimlu was made to work for more than 17 hours a day without proper arrangements for food and accommodation. “My daughter, my mother-in-law and I are very worried about him,” Rosa said.

She appealed to External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar to intervene and rescue her husband. She has also requested the Indian Embassy in Riyadh to take immediate action.

The Indian Embassy has assured that it will provide all possible support to return Narasimlu to India.
