The boy from Bihar’s Vaishali district was found hanging in a hostel room on Friday. He was staying at Welcome Prime Hostel for the last eight months for his studies.
A 16-year-old Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) examinee was found hanging in Vigyan Nagar area of Rajasthan’s Kota district, police said on Saturday.
The boy from Bihar’s Vaishali district was found hanging in a hostel room on Friday. He was staying at Welcome Prime Hostel for the past eight months for his studies.
When the boy did not respond to repeated calls from the family, the hostel staff were informed, who opened the door of the room and found him hanging.
No suicide note was found at the scene, officials confirmed.
According to Vigyan Nagar police station officer Mukesh Meena, students are said to be struggling academically and have poor attendance.
Preliminary investigations suggest that he may have felt burdened by the pressure of studies. The boy was especially close to his father and grandfather, with whom he communicated frequently.
Additional SP Dilip Saini said that the fan of the room has an anti-hanging device to prevent suicide.
The actual circumstances surrounding the incident are unclear, and more insight is expected after discussions with the boy’s family, who arrived in Kota.
He said that the post-mortem process has proceeded and further investigations are underway.
“The family members called the hostel operator at 10:30 pm after the boy did not pick up his regular calls. The hostel operator went to the room and found the gate closed,” Saini said.
As the staff broke down the gate, Saini added, “Primarily, the child thought he was weak in studies. The family members also knew the fact. His attendance was also low. The student used to talk more to his grandfather and father. Only after further investigation will the situation become clear.”
