Rain likely in Delhi-NCR amid freezing cold, check IMD forecast for other states here

Delhi may experience light rain on Monday, December 23. However, many parts of Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana are likely to receive heavy rainfall on December 26 and 27.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department’s forecast, many parts of North India will experience rain and severe cold. The states of Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Punjab will receive rain over the next few days, adding to the already cold conditions.

Rain and cold wave alert

Delhi may experience light rain on Monday, December 23. However, many parts of Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana are likely to receive heavy rainfall on December 26 and 27. The IMD has warned that this rain will cause a sharp drop in temperature. Regions like Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana and Madhya Pradesh will experience a cold wave.

Changing weather patterns

A new Western Disturbance is expected to affect rainfall and changing weather conditions in the Western Himalayan region and surrounding plains. On Monday, skies in Delhi are likely to be partly cloudy, while on Tuesday, dense fog will develop, and a yellow alert has been issued for the day.

Rain in other areas

Coastal Andhra Pradesh, northern Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Rayalaseema received heavy rainfall recently. The same is true in parts of Odisha, coastal Gangetic West Bengal, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Assam and Meghalaya.

Himachal Pradesh Weather Update

In Himachal Pradesh, isolated showers are likely on December 23, 24 and 27. An orange alert has been issued for districts like Una, Hamirpur, Bilaspur and Mandi in the next 24 hours; Districts like Chamba, Kangra and Kullu have been sounded for yellow alert conditions till December 25 due to cold wave / frost in the region.

Residents of the affected areas are advised to be prepared for a sharp drop in temperature and remain alert during this period of weather change.
