In his letter to Birla, Kharge highlighted that his protest was against Dr Ambedkar’s derogatory remarks in the Union Home Minister’s speech in the Rajya Sabha on March 17, 2024.
“When I reached Makardwar with Bharatiya Party MPs, I was physically pushed by BJP MPs. Then I lost my balance and had to sit on the floor in front of Makardwar. It hurt my knee. Already operated, then Congress MPs brought a chair and made me With much difficulty and colleagues forced to sit in my support, I reached the House at 11 am,” Kharge said in his letter.
“1 request that an inquiry be ordered into this incident which is an attack not only on me personally, but on the Leader of the Opposition, the Rajya Sabha and the Congress President,” he said.
According to sources, the Congress MPs are also complaining to the Lok Sabha Speaker about the rude behavior of the BJP MPs against the Speaker’s rule, to prevent Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi from entering the House. Four days ago, the Speaker had instructed that no one should obstruct the entry of MPs.
Congress MP KC Venugopal claimed that the Congress President was pushed by BJP MPs to enter the House.
“Today, after our peaceful sit-in at Prerna Sthal and marching around the Constitution House with posters, we were shocked to see BJP MPs blocking the entrance with sticks on the posters. Surprisingly, security guards were not present despite the Speaker’s complete violation. Earlier, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Pratap Chandra Sarangi had alleged that he was injured after being pushed by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
Sarangi claimed that he suffered a head injury when another MP fell on him while he was standing on the stairs.
“Rahul Gandhi pushed an MP who fell on me, then I fell down… I was standing near the stairs when Rahul Gandhi came and pushed an MP who fell on me…” Singh told reporters. The BJP MP was taken in an ambulance for treatment.
Meanwhile, both Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput have been admitted to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital and are undergoing treatment.
Medical Superintendent Ajay Shukla said that both leaders suffered head injuries and were admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
“Tests will be done. Symptomatic treatment has started. Both have been admitted to ICU with head injuries. Pratap Sarangi was bleeding profusely and had severe injuries. He had to be stitched. Mukesh Rajput is now unconscious, but he is dizzy. “His BP is shut down,” he added.
