Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Wickremarka BRS MLA T. criticized Harish Rao, accusing him of misleading the assembly. He emphasized that the government is ready to discuss the state debt openly with the permission of the Speaker.
Harish Rao had criticized the state government, claiming that the Congress government had borrowed Rs 1.27 lakh crore in one year and suggested that the figure would rise to Rs 6.36 lakh crore in five years. He alleged that the Congress had provided wrong data about the loans taken during the BRS regime, claiming that the BRS government had borrowed Rs 4,17,496 crore, while the Congress was misrepresenting it as more than Rs 7 lakh crore.
In response, Bhatti Wickremarka said that the government is ready to discuss the issue of debt in a transparent manner. He clarified that the government has not violated the Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management (FRBM) limits. He said that the white paper was issued to expose the economic reality to the public.
Bhatti asked Harish Rao not to waste time on misleading statements and challenged the record of the BRS government, asking whether he had fulfilled promises like allotment of three acres of land or double bedroom houses to Dalits. He asserted that the BRS government, which allegedly hid facts about borrowing, is committed to transparency in the financial affairs of the Congress administration.
