Gujarat Police Arrests 6 in Alleged PMJA Card Scam Ahmedabad News

Ahmedabad Police said on Tuesday that they have arrested six people in their alleged role in issuing fraudulent cards under the National Health Insurance Scheme, Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY).

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Ajit Rajian said they are being interrogated for their alleged involvement in the incident.

People who were not eligible PMJAY beneficiaries were allegedly getting the cards through bribes, defrauding both the Gujarat government and the Government of India, Gujarat Police sources informed.

According to the police, further investigation is underway.

The probe into the offshoot racket arose out of a large-scale probe into an alleged scam involving Ahmedabad’s reputed multispecialty hospital and its owners and employees.

The accused were running free medical camps in villages, where they were conducting unnecessary angioplasty surgeries on residents without informed consent to cheat the system through fake medical records and fake claims.
