A 19-year-old teenager was arrested after the car he was driving ran over a four-year-old boy in Mumbai, police said on Sunday, December 22.
According to a report by NDTVThe accident took place near Ambedkar College in Wadala area of Mumbai. The deceased, Ayush Laxman, lives on a footpath near Kinwade and his father works as a labourer, the outlet reported, quoting the police.
Further, the arrested person, Sandeep Gole is a resident of Vile Parle. Further research is being done on this matter.
The incident comes months after the Pune Porche case in which two people were killed when a speeding car ran over them. It is said that the car was driven by a 17-year-old teenager. What began as a straightforward legal case later turned into a nationwide outcry, with allegations of preferential treatment and a liberal judicial response.
Moreover, the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, had last week said that Maharashtra is one of the states that has seen the highest number of road accidents in the last five years.
