Devas: A couple and their two children died in a fire at a milk parlour-cum-house in Madhya Pradesh’s Dewas district on Saturday morning, police said.
An official said that the fire broke out in the premises in Nayapura area around 4.45 am.
“We received information that a fire broke out in a milk parlor in Nayapura, and a family was staying in the same premises,” Nahar Darwaza police station in-charge Manju Yadav told PTI.
According to him, the deceased couple and their two children died due to suffocation and fire injuries.
The fire brigade team brought the fire under control, the official said.
Police said that 35-year-old Dinesh Carpentar, his wife Gayatri (30), 10-year-old daughter Ishika and seven-year-old son Chirag died in the fire.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Puneet Gehlot said Dinesh owned a dairy on the ground floor of the building and lived with his family on the second floor.
“We are investigating the cause of the fire. The dairy was on the ground floor, and the family was on the second floor and the first floor was empty,” the official told reporters.
He said that the fire started from the ground floor and it was suspected that some flammable materials had been piled there.
The SP said that even though they were on the second floor, they could not save the family and could not escape.
He said that the real cause of the fire will be known after the investigation by the forensic team, adding that the fire has been brought under control.
Gehlot said that the incident was serious and said that the police was coordinating with the administration and local bodies to prevent such accidents from happening.
