After 33 years in the House, Manmohan Singh retired from the Rajya Sabha this year.

Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh passed away on Thursday night at the age of 92 due to age-related health conditions, AIIMS said.

Manmohan Singh, who served as the 14th Prime Minister of India, collapsed suddenly at his home, after which he was taken to AIIMS in Delhi.

“With deep sorrow, we announce the passing away of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, aged 92. He was undergoing treatment for an age-related health condition and collapsed suddenly at home on 26 December 2024. Resuscitation measures were immediately initiated at home. He passed away at 8:06 p.m. He was brought to AIIMS Hospital at 10:00 p.m. was revived and declared brought dead at 9:51 p.m.,” AIIMS said in a press release.

Dr. Singh is survived by wife Gursharan Kaur and three daughters Upinder Singh, Amrit Singh, Daman Singh.

Singh retired from the Rajya Sabha earlier this year after 33 years in the House.

Born in Punjab in 1932, Manomohan Singh served as the Prime Minister of India for two terms from 2004 to 2014. He was sworn in for the first time in 2004 after the Congress won the Lok Sabha elections in 2004 against Atal Bihari Vajpayee. – Leadership NDA. He served his second term from 2009 to 2014.
